THE PERFECT HUMAN BODY

I'm obsessed with Andrew Loomis' books and I recommend them to anyone who seriously want to learn how to draw. Anatomy and perspective are paramount to any artist. If you master them - the key subjects - you can do anything. The human body is fascinating and perfect. It's amazing who everything has a purpose and stays in harmony in whole integrated system. So I leave you today with two other quotes about the human body by the great master…

"Made soft and pliable material, elastic yet strong, capable of unlimited movement and of performing countless tasks, operating on self-generated power and repairing or renewing itself over a period of time in which the strongest of steel parts would wear out - the human body is indeed an engineering miracle."
Andrew Loomis

"The artist who cannot put the figure together properly does not have one chance in a thousand of success - either as a figure draftsman or as a painter. It would be as reasonable to expect to become a surgeon without studying anatomy. If you are offended by the sight of the body the Almighty gave us to live in [...] give up all thought of a career in art".
Andrew Loomis

FOR INSPIRATION...

"Good drawing is neither an accident nor the result of an inspired moment when the Muses lend a guiding hand. Good drawing is co-ordination of many factors, all understood and handled expertly, as in a delicate surgical operation".
Andrew Loomis

SKETCH

This is a sketch I did when I was in Goa. The anatomy was all wrong, but in my defense, the sun was blinding me! There are several stuff I drew when I was in India, but some of my traveller's log are just scribbles and uncomprehensible doodles. If there's anything worth posting, I'll do it.
Best,
G.

MY POINT EXACTLY...

As I wrote on the previous post, I'm a sucker for this kind of girl... This is a study I did ages ago, no commercial intent whatsoever.

And there is, of course, my beautiful friend Kelley - here and here. Too bad she's taken (her husband better keep his eyes open!). ;-)

SKYE

Great song, great video... Skye is beautiful and has a beautiful voice. Then again, I'm a sucker for Afro-women with this short haircut (as this ancient doodle prooves).

Enjoy!!!

RUN, FLASH, RUN!

Another shrink-waiting-room sketch. It's funny how children always like to see people draw. The ones who wait for their shrinks like to take a peek at what I'm doodling. Their parents seem glad, since they get a break from those monsters adorable little angels... Maybe one day I'll draw something really inappropriate! :-)

FLASH!

Product of a lazy Saturday... (ironic: can't picture Flash being bored!).
